Kos likes the front page to make fun of McCain's age. I personally think it's ok to point out places where the man's senility is showing through since he is going ot have his hand on the button (or not if we can help it).
We were not vigilant enough as a country when it came to President Reagan, so let's not make the same mistake twice. But pure age jokes, while funny, probably should not be on the table, well, unless they are HILARIOUS and not too mean (McCain's Social Security Number = 1?, Can't resist that one) -- my opinion.
What's your opinion? I want to see a lot of people vote in the poll because I'm curious. If you want to see votes, rec this up.
Regarding the poll. I wanted a simple agree/disagree scale with a crosstab by the respondent's age, so I just created separate response categories by age group for 3 age groups. I would have liked to have done a more sophisticated poll, but let's go with that.
I included 50-69 because it's an age at which you might begin to identify with older Americans, even though folks in their 50s and even their 60s are still not in McCain's own age group. I don't expect lots of 70+ folks, but if you're here, good on you!
Age jokes about McCain are ok on Daily Kos: Agree or Disagree?
Put your explanation in the comments.
My default explanations would be:
Strongly Agree: Have a sense of humor.
Somewhat Agree: Only rarely, and if they are irresistably funny
Somewhat Disagree: But I will click on an age gag if it's there.
Strongly Disagree: Have some class. The jokes will backfire. FLorida and Pennsylvania have too many electoral votes.
By the way: I am 40 and I somewhat agree.
PS This guy (old joke) is SteveG with no space, not me. I am Steve G.
